Michael Nicholson

MICHAEL NICHOLSON is currently Assistant Professor of English at 㽶Ƶ and co-chair (with Miranda Hickman) of the SSHRC-funded “Poetry Matters” initiative. After receiving his Ph.D. from UCLA (2016), he spent a year as a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto's Jackman Humanities Institute (2016-17). He is currently at work on a monograph entitled "After Time: Romanticism and Anachronism." Early selections from this project, on Wordsworth's regional riddles and Clare's lyric defiance, have appeared as essays in ELH (2015) and Genre (2015); a third piece, on Byron's occasional verse and queer time, is forthcoming in ECTI (2019). His most recent research, on poetic calendars and Romantic ecology, has received fellowship support from the Huntington Library (2018-19). In 2018, he was awarded McGill's Louis Dudek Award for Excellence in Teaching.
