Workday onboarding
When you log into Workday, McGill's HR portal, mandatory onboarding tasks will be awaiting your action (including setting up your profile, setting up payment elections, and more).
McGill ID card
All active faculty and staff must carry their McGill ID card when on campus. A McGill ID card is also required to access libraries and certain buildings/rooms on campus.
MCLIU membership
 represents all course lecturers and instructors working at Ď㽶ĘÓƵ. .
Request a profile on the SCS website
You can opt to have a profile posted in the People Profiles section of the SCS website that features your title, biography, teaching areas, and more. To request a profile:
- Fill out the template
- Send it to our Web Specialist, Emily, at emily.brown5 [at] mcgill.ca.
McGill password and 2FA
When you are hired at McGill, IT Services automatically creates a unique McGill Username for you (e.g., firstname.lastname [at] mcgill.ca) to sign into most online and IT services at McGill.
You should have received an email from IT Services with information about your McGill username and instructions to set up your McGill password and choose your .
McGill email
is the official means of communication used by university administration, the academic areas, and yourself. You should always use your McGill email when communicating with your students.
Your McGill email address is generally the same as your McGill Username. If you can’t remember your email address, it will be listed on via Personal Menu > Email Addresses.
Set up tech and software
- : Learn about McGill essential IT services.
- Technologies: Download and set up the software relevant to you (including Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, citation software, McGill's Virtual Private Network).
- Equipment loans: Learn about the technology and equipment available for short- and long-term loans.
Get to know myCourses LMS
myCourses is McGill’s learning management system (LMS) used for online teaching and learning where instructors can distribute course materials, quizzes, assignments and grades and feedback.
Mandatory Sexual Violence Education Program
All McGill community members - students, staff, and instructors - are required to complete It Takes All of Us: Creating a Campus Community Free of Sexual Violence, a mandatory online learning program that strives to ensure that our campus culture is based on respect and consent.
To access the program, log in to using your McGill credentials (i.e., your email and password). If you don’t see the program, select “View All Courses” and search “It Takes All of Us.”
