Now Available: COVID 19 - Temporary Open & Free Resources
In order to support the McGill community and itmovestowards remote instruction & learningduring the COVID-19 crisis, many publishers are offering some or all of their e-resources freely for a period of a few months. McGill Library has put together a list of these publishers and their ‘open’ or freely available resources on a dedicated webpage.
Request access to essential print research materials during Library COVID-19 closure before Thursday, March 19 at noon
Update, March 19, 12:00 pm: The request period is now over.
The Library is offering a one-time retrieval servicefor research print materials from all downtown libraries to members of the McGill community. Only items that can normally circulate will be retrieved.
For materials located at downtown library branches:
Access e-resources via the catalogue or Databases A-Z. E-resources temporarily unavailable via VPN.
To support McGill’s closure, the campus is making some technical changes to the VPN to allow it to scale up for a larger number of users. A side effect of these changes is that most electronic resources will not be accessible via the VPN for the time being.
All library branches closed until May1. Access to e-resources & virtual services continues.

Further to Quebec government and university directives, McGill campuses will be closed until May 1. As a result, all library branches on both campuses will be closed until May 1.
As a result of the closure, the Library is implementing thefollowing initiatives:
Make your voice heard! LibQUAL+ 2020 survey starts March 10th
Starting March 10th, the LibQUAL+ survey will be emailed to a random sample of McGill students as well as to all professors, instructors, research assistants, and research associates in the Faculties of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, Dentistry, Engineering, Medicine, and Science (including associated schools in these faculties).
Several Library websites unavailable Thursday, February 20, between 6 AM and 7 AM
Several Library websites will be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes between 6 AM and 7 AM tomorrow morning, Thursday, February 20, 2020 for scheduled maintenance.

New! LibKey/BrowZine Integration with WorldCat Discovery Starting February 4, 2020
McGill Library is excited to announce that we will be integrating our Discovery catalogue and link resolver with BrowZine’s LibKey service starting on February 4, 2020.
This means that links to article PDFs will be available right from the catalogue or link resolver for many articles. The service will also provide an option for browsing articles from the same issue or latest issue of the parent journal.

McGill Library is happy to announce a partnership with the Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire (BCI) and a coalition of 17 other Quebec universities to provide the Quebec scholarly community with access to three digital platforms:

Update | Seventy-five new study spaces in the Redpath Library Building; Blackader-Lauterman Reference/Folio Collection relocated
Seventy-five new study spaces on the third floor of the Redpath Library Building arenow available to students.
In order to make room for the furniture, the Blackader-Lauterman Art & Architecture Reference/Folio Collection has beenrelocated to a larger space on the same floor. Signage is be displayed directing users to the new areas.

Library’s Research Commons renamed Innovation Commons
As of January 2020, the Library’s Research Commons in the Redpath Library Building has been officially renamedInnovation Commons to better reflect the services offered.
The Innovation Commons is a technology-enhanced, collaborative space that brings together services and resources to support researchers.
It includes spaces, support, and equipment for integrating technology and research and offers services such as 3D printing and virtual reality.

The Library is closed for the holidays from Tuesday, December 24 at noon to Thursday, January 2, 2020,inclusive.
All branches will open on Friday, January 3, 2020.
