Beginning September 8, McGill students can take advantage of new Study Hubs on our campuses - re-imagined safe spaces that are designed for quiet and individual study. These spaces at the Redpath Library Building, Nahum Gelber Law Library, and Macdonald Campus will be retrofitted to allow for social distancing and will follow all of McGill’s careful safety protocols, including enhanced cleaning, mandatory mask use when circulating, safe lineups, and clear signage.

Store, share, publish and discover research data at McGill with Dataverse
Increase the visibility of your research, preserve your data, fulfill grant mandates and more with Dataverse. Dataverse, a local solution for research data management and archiving is now available at McGill. McGill faculty, students, researchers and staff are welcome to deposit datasets in the McGill Dataverse repository. All data are stored securely on servers located in Canada. Data can be publicly accessible, available to specific individuals, or private/restricted.
All checked out items due between March 1, 2020 and January 3, 2021 automatically renewed to January 4, 2021
The Library has automatically renewed all checked-out items that were originally due between March 1, 2020 and January 3, 2021. The new due date for these materials will be January 4, 2021. After January 4, checked-out items will automatically be renewed unless the user account has expired or if a hold is placed on the item.

New! McLennan-Redpath Terrace Pick-Up Service
The Library is pleased to announce that McGill students, faculty and staff can now take advantage of a Terrace Pickup Service for print books not available electronically or through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS). The initial rollout of this service provides access to books housed in the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex and the Nahum Gelber Law Library only. Materials from other branches are not available during the first phase of this service.

Retrieving materials from BCI institutions not possible due to COVID-19 service disruptions
McGill Library is partnering with the Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire (BCI) and a coalition of 17 other Quebec universities to provide the Quebec scholarly community with access to three digital platforms.
Cancellation notice sent to users who placed holds
This week, McGill Library staff members will begin to check-in items that have been returned during the closure period. In order to begin this process, the McGill Library staff members will cancel all holds and requests placed on McGill items.
Users who have placed a hold on a returned item will get a notice indicating that their hold has been cancelled.
