New! Elsevier open access discount
As a part of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) negotiation, McGill Library is pleased to announce a new open access discount with Elsevier. McGill corresponding authors publishing in eligible Elsevier journals now have access to a20% discount on article processing charges(APCs). This is retroactive to articles submitted after January 1, 2021.
The Library’s RefWorks subscription discontinued effective Sept. 30
The McGill Library has discontinued its institutional subscription to RefWorks, effective September 30, 2021. If you are a current RefWorks user, you will need to migrate your references to another citation manager software by September 2021. It will take about 30 minutes to make the change.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) required to access Library account as of May 31, 2021
Starting Monday, May 31, 2021, McGill’s Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) will be required when users sign in to their Library account. This step mirrors the log-in process required for other campus systems (e.g. email/Microsoft 365, Minerva, My Courses, VPN, etc.).

2021 Spring/Summer Service Hours | Study Hubs, Virtual Reference Service, Library Pickup Service
From May 1toAugust 31, 2021, the following serviceswill be operating under spring/summer hours:
1.Library Pickup Service available at four locations:
Items outside of 30 day automatic renewal manually renewed to September 30, 2021
As of January 2021, an unlimited, automatic thirty-day renewal policy will be applied to most items.
Items that do notfall within the automatic renewal policy have been manually renewed to September 30, 2021. Items in questioninclude materials on reserve prior to March 2020 or materials held by patrons whose accounts have expired.
Please note that:
- materials will be renewed automatically as long the account is in good standing
New online submission form for eScholarship
The McGill Library has added another mechanism for campus researchers to deposit to the open access eScholarship digital repository, an online form.

Group study tables (updated April 5, 2021)
Students can book a group study table on the 3rd floor of the Redpath Library Building from 12PM-4PM (Monday to Friday). Tables are available for Groups of 2, 3, and 4 people.

EndNote 20 has arrived! Installers for both Mac and PC are available on the Library's citation guide as well as the University's IT Knowledge Base.
