Department of Integrated Studies in Education Programs

In all its programs, the Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE) is committed to excellence and innovation in its teaching, to the continuous updating of its programs, and to a high quality of student life within its programs.

At the undergraduate and MATL levels, the Department prepares educators to meet the demands of contemporary scholastic environments and alternative career settings. It particularly capitalizes on the distinctive bilingual and multicultural nature of Montreal-area schools, non-profits, and other educational contexts and works in close partnership with these institutions in providing both theoretical and hands-on learning.

At the Master of Arts and doctoral levels, the Department prepares educators to be leaders within educational organizations in Canada and beyond. Students are educated as researchers who influence practice and policy, as master teachers who play leadership roles in schools and professional organizations, as teacher educators, pedagogical designers, and as managers who lead educational organizations at various levels.

Note that the programs that lead to Quebec teacher certification include the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programs and the Master of Arts Teaching and Learning (MATL) programs.
