OFNIE programs provided through Indigenous partners.Ìý
Ï㽶ÊÓƵ
In-Community programs are offered through the Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) in select Indigenous communities in Quebec and Labrador. OFNIE's mandate is toÌýsupport the development of high-quality, Indigenous-controlled education systems by designing and delivering community-based teacher education in close partnership with local Indigenous school boards.ÌýStudents benefit from not having to leave their home communities, families, and support networks to receive a high-caliber university education. Programs may differ from community to community, but overall students can choose to pursue teacher certification programs, a Master’s-level program, and an array of professional development certificates, including educational leadership and language revitalization programs. A significant portion of OFNIE courses are offered in Cree, Inuktitut, Kanien’kehá:ka, and Mi’gmaq.
