For professional athletes, the pressures of competition and stigma surrounding mental health issues can be debilitating to the point where some are leaving the arena for good. Young hockey players are no exception. Fear of negative career repercussions can mean athletes avoid disclosing their mental health concerns.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former McGill Kinesiology and Physical Education Department Chair, Douglas Riley. Native from St. John, New Brunswick, he passed away on June 8, 2022 at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax at 90 years old.
Douglas was a physical education teacher at Three Rivers High School in the 1950s and went on to serve for 25 years as a professor for the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and as Chair of the department.
