An MSc or Master's degree is a relatively short (1.5-2.5 yr) but still intense period of study, you may think of it as an accelerated 2nd degree. There are various reasons why you might like to gain this qualification. It can be a qualification to gain entry into medicine, it can help medical students gain expertise around a particular type of SIS so they can enter residency. If your undergraduate degree was not very clinical or very applied in nature, e.g. computer science, this can be a great way to develop a unique skill set to give you an advantage in entering the medtech industry. Like a PhD there is an opportunity to produce peer previewed publications, usually one or two, and your supervisor may allow you to present this work at a leading conference.

There are two types of MSc, the Research Master's and the Taught Master's.
