ProQuest will be performing maintenance to its ebook and database platforms on Saturday, August 18.
Ebook Central will be unavailable from 12pm to 5pm. ProQuest databases will unavailable from 10:00 pm for up to 8 hours.

New Guest Only Public Computers at McGill Library
New for this Fall, visitors to the McGill Library听can now log in to specially marked computer workstations听using the login information available at individual stations. These designated computers can be identified by the yellow "Guest Only" label located on monitors and are located in each of our branch libraries.听听
Update: Law Library reopened, some washrooms remain closed

Hi everyone,
The Nahum Gelber Law Library is back to its regular operational hours, including after-hours access to authorized card holders. ALL washrooms, except for those on the main floor, are closed for repairs until further notice.
New look for group study room booking
On Wednesday, August 8, we upgraded our LibCal Room booking system, resulting in a new, cleaner look for group study room booking at the Library.
After the upgrade, you may book up to two hours in a group study room by selecting from a pull-down menu once you have selected one time slot, rather than having to select each 30-minute time slot separately.
System maintenance: WorldCat Discovery unavailable Sunday, August 12, from 1:00 am to 6:00 am.
There is planned system maintenance to WorldCat Discovery online catalogue and search tool on Sunday, August 12, from 1:00am to 6:00 am. These services may be unavailable during that time.

The McGill Library听upgraded听its main library catalogue (WorldCat)听August 6,听2018. We are conducting interviews to inform the changes that we are making and to better understand the needs of our users when searching the McGill Library catalogue(s).听听
System maintenance: Colombo (ILL) service not available Saturday, August 11, 3:00 am to 7:00 am
Planned system maintenance on the Colombo servers will take place on Saturday, August 11, at 3:00am. The work is expected to last for up to 4听hours and McGill Colombo Interlibrary Loan service will not be available during this time.

Library Catalogue upgrade to WorldCat Discovery on August 6
On Monday, August 6, the Library upgraded the existing WorldCat Local catalogue and search tool to its successor, WorldCat Discovery.听

As part of the upgrade, course reserves for the 2018-2019 academic year will be accessible solely through WorldCat Discovery.
Some specialized software not available
Over the summer, we've been updating all of our public computers with a new Windows 10 operating system and new听software. During this upgrade, we've encountered some temporary access issues with the specialized software听listed below.听

Update July 20, 8:22am: WorldCat and other OCLC services now functioning normally.
WorldCat and other OCLC services are听currently down. This issue is affecting both WorldCat Local (our main library catalogue) and WorldCat Discovery (our catalogue upgrade), the "Chat with a Librarian" and "Email a Librarian" services,听the听E-journals A-Z听list, and Colombo ILL (our InterLibrary Loan service).
July 20 Terrace along Redpath Library Building inaccessible
Please note that on听Friday, July 20 from 7am to 3pm, the terrace facing lower field along the Redpath Library Building will be inaccessible due to tree removal.听
The terrace will be closed from the north end (Redpath Museum) to the terrace garden.听
Osler Library of the History of Medicine Closed
Early Friday night, July 13, firefighters were called to the McIntyre Medical Building to put out a fire on the听outdoor terrace. The evacuation procedure went smoothly and no injuries were reported.
