Exam Period Access to Nahum Gelber Law Library for Fall 2018
From November 25 to December 21, McGill students will be able to access theNahum Gelber Law Library24 hours a day, seven days a week. As agreed between the Students' Society of 㽶Ƶ (SSMU) and the Law Students Association (LSA), the Nahum Gelber Law Library will limit access to the three upper floors of the library to Law students only during the December 6 to December 20 examination period. Library Census Day November 19 | Head Counting Study November 26-29
On Monday, November 19, 2018, the McGill Library will conduct a one-day census to learn more about our users. This will help inform decisions about improvements to Library services and spaces.
During that day, Library and security staff will ask visitors entering Library spaces to scan their McGill ID cards. Those without a McGill ID card will be asked to select their status (e.g.McGill undergrad, staffmember, general public, visiting scholar, etc.) on a paper form.
Call for Applications | Research Grants & Awards at the Osler Library
Each year the Osler Library offers a number of awards and travel grants to local and international historians, physicians, graduate and post-doctoral students, and others whose research touches upon the history of medicine. From now through 7 January 2019, we are accepting applications for the following awards/grants:
SSMU's Library Improvement Fund now accepting proposals
For over two decades, the Library Improvement Fund (LIF) has invested in the most important Library needs of the undergraduate student body in order to enrich the student academic experience. This fund is administered by the Students’ Society of 㽶Ƶ (SSMU) and is made up of a fee contribution of $8.50 per full-time student per semester, matched equally by alumni donors.
Update #2: Osler Library of the History of Medicine
As a result of the water infiltration and recovery efforts related to McIntyre Medical Buildingfire incidentin July, the Osler Library continues to be closed until further notice. The Osler recovery team has been focusing their efforts on restoring materials and making holdings from the Osler Library of the History of Medicine collection accessible to users.

The Humanities and Social Sciences Library has brand new short term lockers & laptop charging stations thanks to wonderful initiative and funding fromthe Arts Undergraduate Improvement Fund.
A total of eight units are located in the McLennan Library Building elevator lobbies, on the Redpath Bridge and in the Cyberthèque.
