3D printing and VR services end April 10 returning fall 2019
Take note that the Library's 3D printing and virtual reality services will be suspended for the summer as of April 10, 2019. They will be back up and running starting in September.Â
Exam Period Access to Nahum Gelber Law Library for Winter 2019
From April 1- 30 (April 19-22 Easter long weekend excluded) McGill students will be able to access the Nahum Gelber Law Library 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The following branches will be open for study to McGill users over the Easter weekend (Friday, April 19 through Monday, April 22):

- Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering

PGSS' Library Improvement Fund now accepting proposals
The PGSS Library Improvement Fund is funded by PGSS members. The Fund provides PGSS members the opportunity to directly develop and enrich the McGill Library Network. A fee of $3.00 was levied by PGSS for a number of terms, with the collected fees matched by Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.
Extended hours at the Macdonald Campus Library began February 18, 2019
The Macdonald Campus Library is once again offering extended opening hours starting Monday, October 1, 2018.Â
Extended hours for the Macdonald Campus Library are generously supported by the Macdonald Campus Students' Society.

The McGill Library is once again offering extended opening hours starting Monday, February 18, 2019 in three downtown branches:Â
Humanities and Social Sciences Library (HSSL)
Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering
Nahum Gelber Law Library
Education Curriculum Resource Centre reopens
The Education Curriculum Resources Centre (ECRC) located on the first floor of the Education Building is now open to the McGill community.
Permanent reserves will be moved back to the ECRC the first week of February.
Please note that all Education course reserves are located in the Humanities and Social Sciences Library and can be moved to the ECRC upon request for the winter 2019 semester.
2019 LibQUAL library survey starts Monday, January 28
Starting January 28, the Library will be running its LibQUAL survey to a sampling of McGill students, faculty and staff. The survey provides the opportunity to give feedback on Library services, collections and spaces. In the past, the student community used the platform to voice their desire for a wide variety of Library spaces.
McGill Library moves towards a single library catalogue May 1, 2019
Last summer, McGill Library upgraded the existing WorldCat Local online catalogue and search tool to its successor WorldCat Discovery. The final stage of the upgrade currently underway will amalgamate all back-end applications needed to manage a library, including acquisitions, circulation, resource sharing, and a single-search discovery interface for library users.
Ï㽶ÊÓƵ upgrades fully to OCLC WorldShare Management Services

In May 2019, Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, one of Canada’s top ranked research-intensive institutions, will be upgrading its knowledge management infrastructure and fully integrating OCLC WorldShare Management Services (WMS) as its cloud-based library services platform.
Changes to Kanopy Access at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ
The McGill Library will be modifying our method for providing access to the Kanopy platform of streaming films starting January 2019.
Brief downtime for Library guides, room booking, and FAQs, December 26, 2018
Server maintenance is planned for LibGuides (Library guides), LibCal (group study room booking), and LibAnswers (McGill Library FAQs) on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, which may cause a brief downtime of up to 15 minutes.

Update #3: Osler Library of the History of Medicine
Background: As a result of the water infiltration and recovery efforts related to McIntyre Medical Building fire incident in July, the Osler Library space in the McIntyre Medical Building continues to be closed until further notice. The Osler recovery team has been focusing their efforts on restoring materials and making holdings from the Osler Library of the History of Medicine collection accessible to users.
Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering to close for two years for major renovation work beginning summer 2019
The Macdonald-Stewart Library Building, which houses the Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering, needs significant structural repairs and major internal upgrades. This work includes stabilization of the stone structure, foundation waterproofing, window replacement, washroom expansion and the installation of a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC).
McGill Library closed December 22 to January 1
The Library is closed for the holidays from Saturday, December 22, 2018 through Tuesday, January 1, 2019, inclusive.
All branches will open on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
