McGill Biodesign

Biodesign Team

McGill BioDesign is an engineering design team at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, made up of 70 members from 11 different departments divided into 4 distinct projects, with the goal of solving real-world challenges by finding novel solutions at the intersection of engineering, biology, and business.

We enter yearly bioengineering and biological design competitions to showcase our projects and through these contests students can grow technically, professionally, and acquire research, laboratory, and industry experience.

Our projects move on to become much more than just an annual commitment, they develop into global collaboration opportunities, publications, and startups. Some examples of our previous innovative projects include an interactive wound dressing that promotes healing, a water purification backpack, and a device for the conversion of algal blooms into usable biomass.

In addition, BioDesign strives to promote and expand the field and thus via our dedicated outreach activities and workshops we aim to reach out to peers and younger students to provide technical support, as well as to showcase and encourage interest in biotechnology, engineering, and entrepreneurship.
