Stéphane Richard obtained his Ph.D. at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and performed post-doctoral studies at Pfizer Inc. Groton, CT and at Washington University in St. Louis. He is now a full Professor at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and a Senior Investigator and Associate Director at the Lady Davis Institute - Jewish General Hospital. Stéphane Richard is an international renowned molecular biologist and a world leader in basic research of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ binding proteins and protein arginine methylation. He is known for his ground-breaking work on the development of antibodies and pre-clinical animal models to characterize Ï㽶ÊÓƵ binding proteins and their methylation by arginine methylation. Using biochemical approaches and genetic mouse models, Dr. Richard has also linked Ï㽶ÊÓƵ binding proteins to osteoporosis, obesity, multiple sclerosis and cancer and most recently SARS-CoV-2 research. Dr. Richard is a leader in the field of arginine methylation where he identified the role of arginine methylation in Ï㽶ÊÓƵ metabolism and the DNA damage response pathway with implications for new cancer therapeutics, muscle stem cell therapeutics and anti-viral therapies for COVID-19. Author of over 150 publications, Dr. Richard is a recipient of a Distinguished James McGill Professor Chair and was a recipient of the prestigious CIHR Investigator and FRQS Chercheur-National Awards.
