Biography: 

Dr. Hanrahan received his PhD from the University of British Columbia and completed post-doctoral studies at Yale Univ. Sch. Medicine supported by fellowships from NSERC/NATO and the Medical Research Council of Canada. He was recruited to the Department of Physiology at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ where he was supported as an FRQS Chercheur Boursier, and by MRC Scholar, Scientist and Senior Scientist. He is currently professor of Physiology, founding director of the Cystic Fibrosis Translational Research centre (CFTRc), associate member of the Meakins-Christie Laboratories and the Research Institute of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Health Centre and co-founder of Traffick Therapeutics, a Montreal-based start-up company. His laboratory is currently focused on the role of pulmonary ionocytes in acid-base regulation, acquired CFTR deficiency in COPD, and delivery of Ï㽶ÊÓƵ therapeutics to airway cells and organoids for functional rescue of mutated CFTR.
