Public outcry prompts Pierre Beaudoin to give up Bombardier executive role

Public demonstrations and a shareholder revolt weren’t enough to keep Bombardier chairman Pierre Beaudoin from re-election, though he has stepped back from his former executive role.

Bombardier’s institutional investors by and large withheld support for Beaudoin and the executive pay raise, but Bombardier’s two-tiered share structure gives the founding family control; both measures passed easily.

McGill to launch international retail-management school with gift from Bensadoun Family Foundation

㽶Ƶ is on its way to becoming a global centre for retail-management training, thanks to a $25-million gift from Aldo Bensadoun (BCom'64, LLD'12) via the Bensadoun Family Foundation.

The goal is to launch an inter-disciplinary school where students can come together with researchers and industry insiders to develop solutions for the ever-changing modern retail landscape.

Fengate taps Desautels advisor to chair board

Michael Boychuk (BCom'77, DPA'78) is the new Chair of the Advisory Board at Fengate Real Asset Investments, a board that he’s been on since 2014. Mr. Boychuk’s experience in capital markets is an asset at a time when Fengate is undergoing a period of huge growth. He served as Senior VP Treasurer at BCE until 2009, then President and CEO at Bimcor until 2015.

Imran Amed honoured with Vanguard Award

Aldo Bensadoun (BCom'64, LLD'12) is stepping down as chairman of the company that bears his name, as is CEO Patrik Frisk — but continuity won’t be a problem: Bensadoun’s son, David, is taking on the CEO job, starting this April.

Profound appoints Desautels alumna to its Board of Directors

In its 2016 financial results press release, Mississauga-based Profound Medical announced the appointment of Samira Sakhia (BCom’90, MBA’01) to its Board of Directors. Ms. Sakhia is also a member of the Desautels International Advisory Board and serves as President of Knight Therapeutics. Prior to that, she was CFO of Paladin Labs, which she helped sell to Dublin-based pharma giant, Endo International.

Ferring Canada's donation to have lasting impact on Desautels Faculty of Management

Ferring Canada, a subsidiary of Ferring Pharmaceuticals, has contributed a $2-million dollar donation to the Faculties of Management and Medicine at 㽶Ƶ, which will create new fellowships for graduate students working in the domains of health sciences and health management and leadership.

Earlier today, Ferring Pharmaceuticals announced a $2 million donation to McGill to establish the Ferring Fellowships in Health Leadership in the Desautels Faculty of Management in the International Masters for Health Leadership Program (IMHL Program).
