Characteristics of individuals eligible for the clinic:Â
Eligible individuals for the GENGI clinic include those who have been identified to carry a genetic mutation or have a clinical diagnosis of one of the following conditions:Â
Lynch Syndrome (hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer)
Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP)
MUTYH-associated polyposis (MAP)
Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome
Juvenile Polyposis Syndrome
Cowden Syndrome
Hereditary Gastric CancerÂ
Certain relatives of these individuals may also be eligible, depending on their genetic test results and/or medical diagnosis. Please note that individuals with a suggestive family history or suspected genetic predisposition for gastrointestinal cancer are initially first seen in our regular cancer genetics clinic.Â
The steps to take:Â
Most GENGI patients will be referred by the genetics clinic where they underwent genetic testing or a genetic assessment; however, any patient who wishes to have their surveillance done at the Jewish General Hospital and has been diagnosed with any of the above syndromes is welcome to contact the GENGI team to take part in the clinic.ÌýÌý
You can expect to be asked for information about your family history of cancer, any available genetic test results, and/or any records regarding a clinical diagnosis for a gastrointestinal cancer syndrome. Once your referral from the genetic clinic has been received, you will then be contacted by the GENGI Coordinator to book an appointment for you. Eligible family members can also contact Zoulikha Rezoug directly to make arrangements to take part in the clinic.ÌýÌý
There are no direct costs for these clinic appointments.ÌýÌý

GENGI sessions are held on a once-per-month basis and are generally scheduled for the second Monday of the month. The session takes place from 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM. If you are a new patient to the GENGI clinic, your appointment will last 30 minutes. If your appointment is a follow-up appointment, it will last 15 minutes.ÌýÌý
Normally the Coordinator or her assistant will be the one to contact you to schedule an appointment that is convenient for you. You will be provided with the dates and times available and asked to choose your preferred appointment time.ÌýÌý
