Curriculum

Year 1:

  • The complete program is broken into segments and begins with 6 months of training in clinical Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • The resident then joins the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences for the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course in January

Years 2 and 3:

  •  Completion of requirements of MDCM programs in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
  • During elective rotations, the resident is assigned to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical service or other rotations approved by the OMFS Program Director.

Year 4:

  • The resident follows the PGY1 General Surgery program.  This includes rotations in Anesthesia, Intensive Care Unit and Trauma Service.

Years 5 and 6:

  • Exclusively dedicated to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical service
  • The resident acquires higher order surgical skills and assumes increased responsibilities for the management of all in-patient and ambulatory patients in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
