COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe best practices in faculty development, based on the available literature
  2. Define the role and scope of faculty development in health professions education
  3. Consider a broad range of faculty development approaches, from workshops to communities of practice
  4. Apply key principles and strategies in the development of programs and activities
  5. Design a systematic evaluation of a faculty development program or activity
  6. Identify an agenda for research and scholarship in faculty development
  7. Recognize opportunities for organizational change through faculty development
  8. Integrate lessons learned in the renewal or implementation of faculty development initiatives in their own settings
