Decisions for undergraduate exchange applications are made on a rolling basis, ensuring that all applicants receive a decision within one month of the posted application deadline.

Once a decision has been made, you will be able to view your offer letter in the applicant portal and will be prompted to accept your offer of admission.

Note: McGill only issues electronic versions of the admission letter.

Once admitted, and if applicable, you should promptly begin the procedures to obtain the immigration documents required for your exchange.

Depending on the length of your exchange, you must obtain the following documents:

  • Full-Year (2 terms): you must obtain a Certificate of Acceptance from Immigration Quebec and a Study permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada
  • One Term Only: you must have a valid passport. Students from certain countries must obtain a Temporary resident visa

Please consult the International Student Services website for complete details.

Apply for housing

If you are coming on an exchange, you may wish to consider applying for on-campus housing. While priority is given to first-year McGill-degree students, some places may be available for exchange students. For further details on housing opportunities for exchange students, please visit the Student Housing website.

If you are considering off-campus housing, you can find information and resources on the Off-campus housing website.
