Donald Boudreau

Dr Donald BoudreauDONALD BOUDREAU, MD, FRCPC, is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Health Sciences Education. A recently retired pulmonary specialist, he has been involved in medical education, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, for over 30 years. At the undergraduate level, he has held numerous leadership posts including that of Associate Dean, Medical Education and Student Affairs. Dr. Boudreau is an Arnold P. Gold Professor of Medicine and, in 2024, was the recipient of the AFMC Gold Humanism in Medicine Award. Dr. Boudreau has collaborated in medical education projects in several countries, including Australia, Italy, Switzerland and Norway. He is an adjunct professor at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney; a consultant to a curricular reform committee at the United Arab Emirates University; and, a distinguished visiting professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He has co-authored over 70 peer reviewed articles or book chapters and is lead author of ‘Physicianship and the Rebirth of Medical Education’ published in 2018 by Oxford University Press. His current research interests are in practical wisdom (aka phronesis) and professional identity formation.
