Claudia Mitchell Speaks to Gender Dynamics in a Pandemic
Published: 5 June 2020
Distinguished McGill Professor (Department of Integrated Studies in Education), Director of McGill's Institute for Human Development and Well-Being, Dr. Claudia Mitchell, spoke at a McGill Alumni Special Webinar, offering her global insight on gender roles during COVID-19. Claudia asks the sociological questions of “Who is working from home?”, “Who is responsible for child care and homeschooling?”, and “How are family roles changing due to COVID-19?” among others. She further addresses the unfortunate issues of domestic abuse in the home, the stigmatization of women working as frontline workers, and workplace inequality in terms of who has access to protective gear.
