Young Feminist Identities: A Research Exhibit

Saturday, April 30, 2022 13:00to19:00

The Participatory Cultures Lab presents:

"Young Feminist Identities: A Research Exhibit"

Saturday, April 30 at Ada X (4001 rue Berri, suite 201) from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

This exhibition showcases findings from a SSHRC-funded research project entitled Constructing Feminist Identities through Participatory Visual Methodologies. Interested in the meanings young people impart to their feminist identities, and the ways they choose to represent these identities through photographs and objects, the study comprised two methodological phases. The first phase involved individual object elicitation interviews, a data collection technique akin to show-and-tell. The second phase invited the same participants to respond to and expand upon the preliminary findings during a group-based participatory analysis. Ultimately, our goal was to complexify how accounts of ‘being’ feminist and ‘doing’ feminism are told.
