Description of Planned Activities

1. Language needs analysis of Health Care and Social Services workers.
2. Data collection: texts, audio, visual, audio-visual and web authentic materials used in the field of Health and Social Services.
3. Classification of data according to functionality and type of discourse, typical grammatical features and lexical components.
4. Creating course materials: authentic and semi-authentic texts, text analysis, vocabulary building, tailored grammar exercises for Health Care and Social Services context.
5. Setting up a series of significant communicative activities on issues related to Health Care and Social Services for developing and maintaining written and oral skills.
6. Exploring the set up of on-line resource centre for students and the production of a CD-Rom.

Budget Allocation
$25,000
