Desautels MBA alumnus to head PSX
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has approved the appointment of Richard Morin (MBA鈥88) as chief executive officer of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
Morin is the co-founder of Montreal-based investment management firm Landry Morin Inc. He has also headed the Stock Exchange of Mauritius, and has served as vice president of National Bank Securities.

A new role for Desautels alumna, Rima Qureshi
Rima Qureshi (BCom鈥87, MBA鈥96), former president and CEO of Ericsson North America, has been named executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Verizon Communications Inc., effective November 6, 2017.
In this role, she will take over responsibility for the development and implementation of Verizon's overall corporate strategy, including business development and strategic investments.
Quantum International Income names new board chairman
Quantum International Income Corp. has appointed Chad Williams (MBA鈥93) as chairman of the board of directors. Williams is currently the director of the corporation, and is the president and chief executive officer of Red Cloud Klondike Strike Inc.
MBA alumnus appointed to Board of Vitalhub
Vitalhub Corp. has announced the appointment of Mohan Plakkot (MBA'09), Partner and Chief Strategist at Valsef Capital, to its Board of Directors.
In this role, Plakkot will use his 鈥渆xtensive experience and analytical skills鈥 to further the strategic plans of the Toronto-based organization.

Mary Van Buren (MBA'88)聽has been appointed president of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), bringing years of experience to the role.
Van Buren has worked in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors and has held executive roles at leading organizations, including the Canadian Medical Association's subsidiary, MD Financial Management, and Export Development Canada.
Crickets: a healthy food choice that鈥檚 tasty too
Former MBA student Mohammed Ashour聽and the Aspire Group have come a long way since winning the Hult Prize in 2013 for their vision of creating a high-tech cricket farm to produce foods for human consumption.
The Aspire Group has since erected a 25,000-square-foot building in Austin, Texas, which produces roughly 22 million crickets every month.

Announcement of Knight Therapeutics CFO resignation
Knight Therapeutics has announced the resignation of its chief financial officer, as the company鈥檚 president and Desautels International Faculty Advisory Board member, Samira Sakhia (BCom鈥90, DPA鈥94, MBA鈥01), takes on the additional responsibility of CFO.
In doing so, Sakhia will leverage her 14 years of prior experience as CFO for Paladin Labs Inc.

Light Reading reports that after leaving her position as Head of Ericsson North America, Rima Qureshi (BCom鈥87, MBA鈥96) has been hired as Verizon鈥檚 new Chief Strategy Officer. She will be working for CEO Lowell McAdam.
Qureshi has a deep understanding of the issues involved with running a successful tech company in today鈥檚 network-heavy reality: she started at Ericsson as a system analyst in 1993, before moving up through the ranks.
