New Course Offering!
Do you want to earn credits while completing an internship this summer? Enroll in BUSA 410: Summer Internships in Management this summer. This new course will help you make the most of your internship by helping you learn key transferable skills, recognize and take advantage of networking opportunities, and build professional and self-awareness.
Online info session: TBD
In-person info session: TBD
We will meet in-person on May 2nd for a 6-hour kick-off session. This session will include individual and group work, as well as panels with industry managers and recent alumni.
Between May and August, we will meet online in small groups to discuss your internship experience and help you thrive in it. We will meet four times in small groups, the schedule of these meetings will be based on your own internship schedule (for example, if your internship is only in May/June, all your sessions will occur during May/June).
We will end the summer with a final in-person wrap-up session on August 25th, where we will all come together to reflect back on our individual and collective learnings.
This course has three overarching objectives:
Register for the course when registration on Minerva opens in March (same process as your regular course). Once you have registered, we will reach out to you to gather more information about your internship.
You can register in March when registration for Spring/Summer courses open.
If you’re interested in taking this course but are not sure you will be able to attend the in-person sessions, reach out to Leigh Korey at leigh.korey [at] mcgill.ca or Tatiana Lamoureux Gauvin at tatiana.gauvin [at] mcgill.ca
Yes, you will be responsible for finding your own internship. However, please note that Career Management is there to help you! See here for more resources.
Your internship must last at least 8 weeks of full-time work, or 16 weeks of part-time work. You may have an internship that lasts longer than this as well.
You will have to provide proof of employment by the first day of class (e.g. a contract or offer letter).
If it is before the add/drop deadline, you will be asked to drop the class or find another internship. Otherwise, it will be handled on a case-by-case basis, depending on how much of the course has already been completed.
You will be placed in small groups for the online sessions that will take time zone into account.
