Off-campus Library users who need to access an electronic resource through the Library website, Sofia discovery tool (McGill catalogue), or through the "McGill Library Full Text" links in Google Scholar, are asked to log in to EZProxy with a McGill username and password before accessing the resource.
Sofia, McGill鈥檚 bilingual catalogue is evolving! As of July 14, you will be able to explore the new interface of Quebec university libraries鈥 discovery tool. This renewed interface is more user-friendly and offers several improvements:
- Redesigned ergonomics for smoother and more intuitive navigation
- New intelligent request processing feature that displays the document which is the easiest to access
- Search terms underlined in yellow
- Optimization of accessibility for the visually impaired
- New icon for the Chat service

Starting Monday, May 31, 2021, McGill鈥檚 Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) will be required when users sign in to their Library account. This step mirrors the log-in process required for other campus systems (e.g. email/Microsoft 365, Minerva, My Courses, VPN, etc.).

In order to provide users with an integrated CME (Continuing Medical Education) option as well as ensuring the latest security for our proxy server access, McGill and UpToDate will be slightly modifying the landing page for UpToDate via EZproxy starting on February 1, 2021.
McGill Library is partnering with the Bureau de coop茅ration interuniversitaire (BCI) and a coalition of 17 other Quebec universities to provide the Quebec scholarly community with access to three digital platforms. This includes a unified catalogue or听Library Shared Services Platform (SSP) that will provide access to more than 20 million documents across the 18 collections and is supported by OCLC's WorldShare Management Services (WorldCat).
This week, McGill Library staff members will begin to check-in items that have been returned during the closure period. In order to begin this process, the McGill Library staff members will cancel all holds and requests placed on McGill items.
Users who have placed a hold on a returned item will get a notice indicating that their hold has been cancelled.
Please note that users will be able to place new holds once the Library is open and items can be made accessible for browsing.

Sometime between September and November of this year, Apple is releasing their new operating system, Catalina. Unfortunately, this new operating system applications - this includes Endnote. Endnote is and is working on a major update so that Endnote X9 for Mac will continue to work. This update is not yet available.
