Debbie Blythe, a translator andÌýlecturer at the McGill School of Continuing Studies' Translation and Written Communication unit, has been awarded the Cole Foundation Prize for Translation - French to English. Blythe received the award in recognition for her work onÌýTurkey and the Armenian Ghost: On the Trail of the Genocide.ÌýThe prize was awarded as part of theÌýQuebec Writers' Federation QWF Literary Awards,Ìýthe most important literary event of the year for QuebecÌýEnglish-language writers andÌýreaders.Ìý

It’s been a banner year for Berdj Garabedian, who’s currently working towards his Graduate Diploma in Translation at McGill’s School of Continuing Studies. In June he was the recipient of the McGill Associates Prize in Translation (French-English), and this fall he was awarded this year’s Network of Translators in Education (NTE) Merit Scholarship.Ìý

The Ï㽶ÊÓƵ School of Continuing Studies’ Translation and Written Communication unit has made a special delivery to the city of Montreal and Mayor Denis Coderre; the Hebrew version of the Montreal Charter of Rights and Responsibilities. It is the sixth translation provided by McGill.

Mr. Garabedian received this distinction at the spring graduation ceremony when he was awarded his Certificate in Translation.

Debbie Blythe has had a dual role as both a professional translator and a lecturer in the Translation and Written Communication Unit at McGill’s School of Continuing Studies for over 20 years. During that time she has translated a wide variety of French-language texts into English – a screenplay, documentaries, and countless legal, medical, and commercial texts. This past summer, she dedicated herself to a very special project.Ìý
