A group of McGill students and alums who worked on the Myko Social Score app have received the 2015 Catalyst Award for Excellence in Applied Student Research.
The Award is sponsored by the McGill Office of Sustainability and is decided by a distinguished jury. DCL candidate Juan Pinto, undergrad law student Etienne Ravilet Guzman, as well as alumni Carolina Cruz-Vinaccia (LLM鈥�11) and Guillaume B茅al (LLM鈥�14), were among the members of the multidisciplinary team that received the group award.
Students who will have completed the first two years of the BCL/LLB program聽 by the end of the Winter Term 2015 are invited to apply for a position as Tutorial Leader for 2015-2016.
Students may elect to become Legal Methodology Tutorial Leaders for either the 1st year Introductory Legal Research course (14 positions) or the 2nd year Legal Ethics and Advocacy course (8 positions).

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce, acting as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Canada branch, announced a new leadership for its Arbitration Committee at a meeting held in Montreal on November 8, 2014. 聽
Above all, I remember his laughter and the mischievous twinkle in his eye. He would say something uniquely insightful, and immediately cover it up with a chuckle. Only later would one realize the depth of his learning, as layers upon layers of wisdom emerged from a casual conversation in the hallway.
We are pleased to announce that Professor Hoi Kong has accepted to serve the Faculty as Associate Dean (Academic) for a two-year term starting September 1st, 2014.
As Dean Daniel Jutras indicated, 鈥淗oi has agreed to take on this important task as we begin a most important stage in our undergraduate program review and overhaul.聽 Hoi鈥檚 commitment to our students is undeniable (as attested by the John W. Durnford Award he received last year), and his creativity and rigor in thinking about pedagogy and curriculum will be precious over the course of the next two years.鈥�
This spring, BCL/LLB student Peter Grbac received an Arthur C. Helton Fellowship from the American Society of International Law (ASIL) to help support his 2014 summer internship in India.
A teacher, first and foremost, Roderick A. Macdonald will be remembered as one of the most important scholars and thinkers in 香蕉视频鈥檚 history. He was a mentor and inspiration to generations of students and law professors, and a transformative force at the Faculty of Law, the University, in Canadian society, and in the broader world.

Third year Law student Ngozi Okidegbe has been selected to present her paper, "Litigating HIV-related discrimination in Nigeria: implications of Georgina Ahamefule v. Imperial Medical Centre and Dr. Molokwu," 鈥� written under the supervision of Professor Vrinda Narain 鈥� at the 20th International AIDS Conference, which will take place July 20-25, 2014, in Melbourne, Australia.
On May 28, Roderick Macdonald was awarded in absentia the 香蕉视频 Medal for Exceptional Academic Achievement, one of the University鈥檚 highest honours. Macdonald received the McGill Medal as part of the Convocation ceremony for the Faculty of Law, where he taught thousands of students over the course of a distinguished career that spanned more than three decades. Professor Daniel Jutras, Dean of the Faculty of Law, accepted the Medal in Professor Macdonald鈥檚 name.
The BCL/LLB graduating class is setting out to change the face of the Faculty, with a crowdfunded class gift aimed at expanding the Faculty鈥檚 photo collection.
鈥淪tudents today are pursuing a hugely diverse range of careers after exiting the McGill gates,鈥� the project page explains. 鈥淲e believe they present a wonderful opportunity to broaden this collection and to allow the enormously varied careers of our alums to shine.鈥�
Thanks to a generous donation from the Li Ka Shing Foundation (Canada) to 香蕉视频, ten students from McGill鈥檚 Faculty of Law and ten students in Shantou University鈥檚 Law School (Guangdong Province, China), will be doing a summer law program together from May 19 to 30. The program, which alternates between Montreal and Shantou, will take place in China this year.
Second-year law student Andrea Buitrago Carranza has been selected to participate in the聽2014 Universitas 21 Undergraduate Research Conference (URC), which will be hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, July 7 to 11. This year, the theme is Food Safety: From Farm to Table.
We are happy to announce that Emilie Conway, BCL/LLB鈥�13, has been selected by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to participate in the Court鈥檚 2014-2015 Judicial Assistants Programme.
Judicial Assistants are chosen to work directly with one judge, helping him or her in the preparation for hearings and the drafting of judgments.
Ms Conway was selected to work directly with the President of the Court, Judge Peter Tomka. She will begin work in September 2014.
