On May 30th, 34 students from across Eeyou Istchee graduated from McGill, in the first program that allows northern Quebec Cree to learn from home to become teachers in their own community.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship:
Rasel Babu, in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, received a McGill Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship for their research topic: "Pedagogues' Readiness to Integrate Educational Technology for Teaching Language and Mathematics in Bangladeshi Secondary Classrooms."
Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship:
McGill's Faculty of Education and the听Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) had a total of 46 graduates (16 deferred from Summer 2023 and 30 in 2023-2024) participate in the Summer 2024 convocation in the following programs:

Chama Laassassy, M.A., Second Language Education, DISE, has been recognized for her leadership potential, strong ties with community, and innovative approaches to creating change, earning a Pathy Foundation Fellowship for 2024-2025.
Working Nation, a US-based organization working to highlight career/technical education and vocational training across the country asked Dr. Michael Lipset (DISE) to appear on their video-based YouTube series highlighting workforce efforts in education.
Filmed at SXSW EDU 2024, the video was one of a series of guest spots they filmed throughout the week and covers 4 Learning鈥檚 approach to school change, which includes vocational training in the recording arts, business of music and media, and other creative endeavors.

On May 15, 2024, Thomson House Ballroom hosted the annual Equity and Community Building Awards Ceremony. The awards highlight the work of students, faculty, and staff committed to advancing equity, diversity and community building at McGill.
Two members of the Fall 2024 cohort of will begin their funded Master鈥檚 studies at McGill鈥檚 Faculty of Education. Designed to encourage purposeful leadership, the scholarships enable students to pursue a funded degree while participating in mentorship, coaching, and a leadership development program.
