General Information

The breast cancer risk assessment clinic is designed to provide patients with personalized risk assessment and screening recommendations to be used by their family physicians or referring providers. The clinic offers a one-time consultation/counselling session for patients who may be at elevated risk for developing breast cancer.

Using hereditary risk models that incorporate personal and family history information as well as BMI and breast density, the clinic provides lifetime risk estimates for developing breast cancer. Patients who meet criteria for genetic counselling but have not yet been referred may be offered additional consultation with cancer genetic services. Furthermore, during the session, patients are offered resources and counselled on lifestyle factors that may lower risk.

Please note that the waiting times for the BCRAC is at least one year.
