SRI Commitments

In December 2019, the Board of Governors approved 8 recommendations contained on pages 17-19 of the CAMSR Report to the Board of Governors. The Board committed to reviewing the current SRI practices on a five-year basis in order to determine the need for any adjustments or further SRI actions.

In April 2020, the Board of Governors approved the Implementation Plan Related to the CAMSR Report supporting the operationalization of the 8 recommendations contained in the CAMSR Report to the Board of Governors.

On April 20, 2023, the Board of Governors approved a motion, pursuant to the Chair of the Board’s consultation with the senior administration, the Investment Committee, and CAMSR, to authorize CAMSR to accelerate the 2025 review of SRI practices to take place effective immediately and on the understanding that CAMSR would submit a report, with any recommendations that stem from this review to the Board of Governors by the end of the calendar year of 2023.

The SRI recommendations of the CSSR, following the review of SRI practices conducted by the former CAMSR and the CSSR, was approved by the Board of Governors in December 2023, for implementation by the University administration and the Investment Committee of the Board of Governors.

As a requirement of the , which came into effect on January 1, 2024, McGill must submit an annual report outlining specific details about the steps taken to prevent and reduce forced labour to Public Safety Canada, following approval by the Board of Governors.
