Current research: 

Research interests include endocrine surgical oncology conditions of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands along with rare genetic endocrine syndromes.

Clinical Interests: 

Surgical and oncological diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. Surgical management of multiple endocrine neoplasias (MEN). Surgical management of hereditary endocrinopathies.

Biography: 

Dr. Elliot Mitmaker is Associate Professor of Surgery and Oncology at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and is an Endocrine Surgeon at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Health Center. Dr. Mitmaker obtained his MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 2003 and completed his General Surgery residency and obtained his Masters in Experimental Surgery from Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. He then went on to complete a prestigious 2-year research and clinical fellowship in Endocrine Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) from 2009-2011. After completing his fellowship, he was recruited back as the first fellowship-trained endocrine surgeon at McGill and has since developed a successful academic endocrine surgery practice. Dr. Mitmaker also serves as Program Director of the Surgical Oncology Fellowship Training Program at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and remains very active in teaching and research. Dr. Mitmaker has published a number of peer-reviewed papers and book chapters of various topics in endocrine surgery. He has presented at numerous national and international meetings and has received numerous grants and awards for his clinical innovation and research in Endocrine Surgery.
