Overview

Islamic Studies : Significant movements in Islamic thought and political action, since the Mughal downfall. The influence of Sirhindi; Waliyullah and his school; the Mujahidin; 1857, De'oband; Aligarh; Azad and Muslim participation in Indian nationalism; Iqbal; Pakistan. Pakistan constitutional and ideological issues; birth of Bangladesh and subsequent developments; Muslims in India since partition.

Terms: This course is not scheduled for the 2019-2020 academic year.

  • Fall and Winter

  • Students must register for both ISLA 723D1 and ISLA 723D2

  • No credit will be given for this course unless both ISLA 723D1 and ISLA 723D2 are successfully completed in consecutive terms
