Welcome to McGill's Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program!
We are excited that you have chosen radiology as a career and that you are interested in learning more about our program.
As program director, I am proud of the depth and breadth of the clinical training opportunities we offer, the excellence of our teaching program, and the personalized approach we take towards the growth, goals, and career trajectory of each resident.
Depth and breadth. McGill’s radiology residency program provides world-class clinical training at one of the most prestigious, diverse, and busy hospital networks in Canada. While working with us, you will receive robust exposure to approximately 2000 inpatient beds, a large oncology population, four emergency departments, three community radiology sites, a Level 1 trauma centre, a busy transplant service, and a tertiary care pediatric hospital. Our catchment basin includes the island of Montreal; it’s surrounding regions, and extends to rural communities in Northern Quebec.
Teaching excellence. At McGill, you will learn through twice-daily teaching rounds (8:00am-9:00am and 12:00pm-1:00pm). You will receive protected time Wednesday afternoons to attend our academic half days for core curriculum teaching. You will benefit from full days of dedicated resident teaching offered by the international leaders in radiology we invite during the year as part of our visiting professor program. In addition, once a year, you will be able to decompress, consider your career options within radiology, and offer feedback to help us continually improve our program at our annual off-site retreat.
A focus on your goals, with outstanding results. We take pride in delivering an optimized educational experience for each trainee whether his or her goals are in community or academic practice. In our department, you will benefit from a faculty-to-resident ratio of approximately 1.5:1. Our residents excel on the Royal College examinations and other key academic metrics. Our graduates secure their top choices for fellowship and go on to train at leading institutions throughout North America. McGill Radiology has an extensive and growing network of alumni in Quebec and across the county, facilitating job placement.
Ours is a rigorous and rewarding residency that launches outstanding careers in academic and community medicine. We can’t wait to hear more about you, your interests and goals, and your ideas for the future of radiology.
