Psychotherapy

Our clinic provides psychotherapy services to children (7+), adolescents, and adults experiencing significant difficulties in emotional, social, occupational, or interpersonal domains. We provide services to both English and French speaking clients.

  • *NOTE: The registration form for adult psychotherapy is currently closed, as we are at capacity for this term. We expect to open the registration form again in the Spring of 2025.

Psychoeducational Assessments

We offer comprehensive psychoeducational assessments to children and adolescents ages 6-16 years, inclusive. A psychoeducational assessment typically takes place over three or four appointments with the assessor. The assessor will choose a variety of scientifically-supported instruments to assess the child’s thinking and reasoning skills, academic skills, as well as social-emotional and behavioural functioning. When the assessment is complete, results are presented during a feedback session and clients receive a written report summarizing the findings. All assessments are conducted in English, and all reports are written in English.

Intake Procedures:

  1. Requests for service can be made by the individual. In the event that a request is made on behalf of another person, the individual obtaining services will be required to provide informed consent for services.
  2. Individuals should provide a daytime phone number and specify whether clinic personnel may leave a message at the phone number(s) provided.
  3. After receiving a request for service, the individual will be contacted by the Centre Director or one of our student therapists to perform a brief screening interview and determine whether the clinic’s resources are suited to the client’s request.
  4. Following the screening call, potential clients will be placed on the waiting list. Occasionally, the waiting list reaches its limit and we suspend additional requests from prospective clients. In these cases, if services are urgently required, we are usually able to provide referrals or recommendations. When a client requires services that are not available in the Centre, a referral to an appropriate service is usually made.
  5. When services are available, potential clients will be contacted by of one our trainees to schedule an intake appointment. Please note that the wait time between initial contact and the first appointment can sometimes be lengthy, depending on the time of year and availability of therapists.
