Mentorship Program

Ï㽶ÊÓƵ

In order to enrich our program, we have implemented a Plastic Surgery Mentorship Program this past year.

The Plastic Surgery Mentorship Program is designed to pair a mentor and a mentee in order to guide and support the academic career path of a resident. The PGY 1 residents are randomly paired with a Plastic Surgery senior at the start of their residency at McGill. The mentee is not obliged to meet with their mentor, though it is highly encouraged to enrich the resident’s experience in the Plastic Surgery Residency Program. The mentor is instructed to contact the mentee at the start of each academic year.

The mentorship Program focuses on:

  • Career Development: Mentors help identify their mentee’s personal and professional goals, furthermore helping them on the right path to achieve long term goals.
  • Development of Expertise: Mentorships focus on helping the mentee grasp specific skill sets. The mentor acts as an outlet for further development on particular difficulties a resident might have.
  • Network Opportunities: Mentors help mentees to network and expand professional connections in the field of Plastic Surgery
  • Support: The mentor provides direction, oversight and inspiration. The resident can depend on his/her mentor to communicate regularly, furthermore maintaining confidentiality.
