History and Philosophy of Science (HPS) is the interdisciplinary study of the development of science and scientific ideas. It encompasses topics from history and philosophy. The goal of HPS is to understand the principles that guide scientific inquiries and that justify scientific knowledge.
The Minor Concentration in History and Philosophy of Science is truly interdisciplinary. In addition to some core courses from history and philosophy, students can take a wide range of related courses, or do an independent study with one of the many professors at McGill who work in a related area.
