The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine consists of 25 highly trained and experienced staff physician core members who are a cohesive and energetic team dedicated to research, clinical excellence, teaching and innovation. Members of the Division are actively involved in diverse scholarly activities both at the hospital and university level with expertise in, but not limited to, pediatric trauma, pain and sedation, simulation, patient safety, point-of-care ultrasound, quality improvement, health professions continuing education, disaster medicine and toxicology.
The Division boasts a state-of-the-art 39-bed Emergency Department (ED) within the tertiary care academic pediatric Montreal Children’s Hospital and has an annual patient census of over 80 000 visits. The Division has access to the state-of-the-art Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning to use for its training, teaching and research endeavors, the Research Institute of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Health Centre (MUHC) and the McConnell Centre for Innovative Medicine which provides a full range of clinical research services in a state-of-the-art environment dedicated to clinical research.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Courses
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine through the MontrealÌýChildren's Hospitals offers two courses:
- Pediatric Emergency Medicine Critical Scenarios and Interventions (PEM-CSI)
Objectives:- Perform pediatric critical surgical airway interventions and advanced intubation techniques
- Demonstrate pediatric acute care-based Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) skills
- Describe pivotal new Pediatric Emergency Medicine studies relevant to the acutely and critically ill pediatric population
- Apply advanced airway skills to the management of acutely and critically ill children as part of an intraprofessional team in a simulated setting
- Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Designed to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently evaluate and effectively manage seriously ill infants and children. In this course, you will learn:- How to assess for evidence of respiratory and circulatory compromise.
- Establish treatment priorities and intervene when necessary to stabilize the child.
- Students will also review treatment of the respiratory and circulatory systems, management of cardiac arrest and arrhythmias and immediate post-resuscitation care.
