Areas of interest: 

Clinical neurophysiology of sleep and pain, as well as specific disorders including sleep bruxism, sleep apnea, and periodic leg movements during sleep. Psychophysiology of vigilance and pain. Placebo effects of analgesia, and the influence of analgesia (morphine and other opiods on sleep). Orofacial pain and oral medicine.

Methodologies:
Polysomnography, spectral analysis of cardiac variability and cerebral activity, morphology of respiratory waves in relation to oromandibular and nasal structure, and psychophysiological pain evaluations using quatitative methods.

- Psychophysical and pharmacological research on the perception of pain while awake or asleep (Collaboration with Dr Pierre Mayer, CHUM; Dr Manon Choiniere, CHUM; and Jacques Montplaisir, Centre de recherche de leHepital du Sacre-Cour de Montreal).
- Research on factors affecting vigilance in patients experiencing chronic pain: assessment with a behaviour simulator and neupsychological tests (Collaboration with Dr Anne Decarie, Departement de psychologie, UniversiteÌýde Montreal)
- Physiological and pharmacological research on abnormal movements during sleep: bruxism (teeth grinding and clamping), myoclonia, torticollis and periodic limb movements (Collaboration with Dr Jacques Montplaisir, Departement de psychiatrie, and Dr Pierre Blanchet, FaculteÌýde medecine dentaire, UniversiteÌýde Montreal)
