About the Department

Over 30 Years of Excellence in Cancer Research, Education and Clinical Innovation

Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology is dedicated to delivering excellence and leadership in cancer research and treatment, in the education and training of health professionals and cancer researchers, and in the advancement of all aspects of cancer control and prevention. Through education, research, policymaking, and public engagement, our goal is to better understand, prevent, treat and cure this disease, as well as to improve the quality of life of individuals with cancer throughout the disease trajectory.

Established in 1990, the Department has expanded to include over 200 members spread across McGill and its affiliated hospitals: Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Health Centre (MUHC), Jewish General Hospital (CIUSSS Centre-Ouest) and St. Mary's Hospital Center (CIUSSS de l'Ouest-de-l'ÃŽle-de-Montréal).Ìý The Department's home base is at 5100 Boul de Maisonneuve West, Suite 720 where the Chair and administrative offices are located and which also serves as the headquarters of theÌýDivision of Cancer Epidemiology.ÌýÌýOther activities at this location include coordination of the Medical, Radiation and Surgical Oncology Residency Training Programs, the Multidisciplinary Oncology Residents Education (MORE) Series and the Visiting Speakers Program in Oncology (VSPO).Ìý

The department is multi- and trans-disciplinary in nature and includes a broad spectrum of cancer researchers and cancer care specialists who are catalyzing the advancement of cutting-edge discoveries. Whether it is conducting research to better understand, prevent and treat cancer, taking care of individuals affected by the disease, training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, or informing policy, our faculty members are dedicated to combatting cancer.
