Our Mission

The mission of the Faculty of Arts Office of Advising and Student Information Services (OASIS) is to ensure the integrity and coherence of the Arts undergraduate degree, and to provide advice and support to our students regarding their academic trajectory, from entry to graduation. We do so by valuing principles of fairness, accessibility, respect, engagement, confidentiality and collaboration with key stakeholders.

Note to Parents/Guardians

Per Québec privacy laws (details here) and given our advising mandate to students - in support of building a student's independence and resiliency - the Arts OASIS will only interact with the student themselves when advising and with regard to their McGill record. Meetings with students are confidential, and participation by parents and third parties is discouraged. Advisors cannot discuss the details of a student's situation with a parent / third party present. Should the student permit a parent / third party to remain in their meeting, the student's file will not be discussed, and the parent / third party may attend as a silent participant only.
