Marcelo Lannes, MA(Phil) M.D., FRCPC
Dr. Marcelo Lannes is an Assistant Professor in the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Departments of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Lannes was born in Brazil, where he did his undergraduate studies in medicine. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and after 4 years working in community hospitals in Quebec he came back to McGill to undertake another specialization in critical care. He has a Masters degree in philosophy from the Université du Québec and a Master degree in Epidemiology from the University of London (external program). He is a certified instructor in both advanced cardiac and trauma life support (ACLS and ATLS).
He has been with the Neuro since 2004, apart from a period from 2016 to 2022 when he worked at St-Mary's Hospital where he was Chief of the department of anesthesiaÌý from 2018 to 2022. Dr. Lannes has also been involved in the hospital affairs as past the vice-chairman of the Council of Physicians, Pharmacists and Dentists of the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Health Centre. ÌýBesides his clinical and administrative duties, he has been active as Chair of the Montreal Neurological Hospital Medical Evaluation Committee, in the teaching of medical students and residents in the fields of anesthesia and critical medicine and in the development of quality improvement initiatives. His areas of interest include the treatment of cerebral vasospasm, the use of non-invasive cerebral monitoring, the application of ultrasound technology in the intensive care unit, and the reduction of the environmental impact of medical practices.
