Message from the Director

Dr. Guy Rouleau

Welcome!

There has never been a more pivotal and exciting time for The Neuro.

Through Open Science, we are driven by a renewed vision that defines our ultimate purpose to transform neurological research and care to change lives.

Today, 35% of the total burden of all diseases is due to brain disorders, generating great human suffering and tremendous economic burden. According to the WHO, more people live with neurological disease than cardiovascular disease or cancer. And yet, despite huge investments, it has been decades since a truly revolutionary new drug or treatment has emerged to alter the course of brain disorders – they remain the greatest unmet medical need.

At The Neuro, we are shifting the pace of discovery to transcend this last frontier of science. We are transforming radically our collective approach to brain science, by sharing faster and eliminating barriers to collaboration. I believe the path we choose to become the first ever academic institution in the world to implement Open Science practices is the right one. Tomorrow, all this newly-created knowledge will crystallize into concrete benefits for our patients

I invite you to explore our website, learn about our research and clinical programs, discover Open Science and the world-class work that we do at The Neuro. Join us as a student, a researcher, a health professional, a volunteer, a community member, or even as someone with a curiosity or interest in the brain and life. The future is incredibly bright.

Brains need you. Join us in the fight against brain disorders.
