The Neuro Celebrates #GivingTuesday on November 29

Published: 8 November 2016

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, created to counteract the consumerism-based Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

This year, The Neuro is celebrating #GivingTuesday by inviting the community to fund the Giving Tuesday Travel Award – which will allow a talented student or fellow to present their research at a national or international scientific meeting.

The opportunity to attend conferences and take part in specialized courses is essential to the training of the more than 350 postdoctoral fellows, residents and graduate students working in our labs and clinics. Government funding for student support is limited, and The Neuro relies on the generosity of the community to fulfill this need. Travel awards are truly invaluable resources for students – they provide our young investigators the opportunity to present their research to an international audience, learn from a range of experts in their field, and integrate new theories into their own work. This kind of training encourages scientific collaboration, and benefits patients living with serious neurological diseases and disorders everywhere!

By contributing to the Giving Tuesday Travel Award, you are playing an important role in the development of the next generation of leaders in neuroscience research and clinical care. Thank you for supporting this campaign!

and make a difference in the life of a young scientist TODAY!

In honour of #GivingTuesday, we’ll be publishing the story of a Neuro student who benefitted from a travel award each week, so stay tuned!
