As The Neuro marks its 90th anniversary, we celebrate nine decades of innovation, dedication, and impact as a global leader in neuroscience.ÌýTo honour this incredible milestone, we’ve planned four exciting days of activities, from December 9-12, 2024, for our amazing staff and trainees.

These 90 hours are an opportunity to come together, reflect on The Neuro’s remarkable journey, and create new memories while connecting with colleagues.ÌýCheck out the schedule below and join in as many activities as you’d like!

Scavenger Hunt

Celebrate The Neuro’s 90th anniversary with a fun and engaging scavenger hunt! Solve riddles, uncover hidden clues, and compete for exciting prizes while exploring the many corners of The Neuro. Participate solo or as part of a team—it’s all about having fun!

When and Where:

  • Start Time: December 9 at 8:00 a.m.
  • End Time: December 11 at 12:00 p.m.

How to Participate:

  1. Register: Complete the to sign up. Registration closes on Friday, December 6, at 9:00 a.m.

  2. Start the Hunt: The first clue will be sent to you by email on Monday morning, December 9.

  3. Follow the Clues:

    • Each step includes a QR code—scan it to receive your next clue.
    • There are 9 clues in total, guiding you through the scavenger hunt.
  4. Finish and Win:

    • Complete the hunt at your own pace by Wednesday, December 11, at 12:00 p.m.
    • Prizes will be awarded during the Holiday Luncheon on Thursday, December 12.

Chair Massage

Recharge and unwind with a 10-minute chair massage from Cochez Santé’s professional therapists. These sessions blend techniques like Shiatsu, Amma, Swedish, Deep Tissue, and more to help you relax and de-stress.

When and Where:

  • December 9: 1:30 – 6:30 p.m., Healing Garden
  • December 11: 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Healing Garden

How to Participate:
Massages are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, but a sign-up sheet will be available to reserve your spot. Don’t miss this chance to treat yourself! Please note that there is a 5-minute transition period between massages.

Yoga Sessions

Join us for a rejuvenating yoga class led by Jeannine Plaiche, an experienced yoga teacher, therapist, and mobility specialist. These one-hour sessions are designed to help you move better, breathe deeper, and have fun while toning and invigorating your body and mind.

Hike

Join us for an invigorating and informative hike up Mont Royal, one of Montreal’s most iconic natural landmarks. Enjoy stunning views, learn about the mountain’s history and ecology from our knowledgeable guide, and warm up with hot chocolate at the summit!

When and Where:

  • December 10: 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Departure:ÌýNorth Wing, L2 (near the Healing Garden)
  • Group Photo: Gather for a team picture before we set off.

How to Participate:

Holiday Luncheon

To celebrate the holiday season, we will continue with our annual Neuro tradition and treat our staff to a delicious buffet lunch. The festive atmosphere and a performance by The Neuro Cosgrove Choir make this an event not to be missed!

Tickets (required for entry) will be distributed in November.Ìý

Explore the stories that have defined The Neuro's legacy! Step back in time to 1934 when founder Dr. Wilder Penfield designed the iconic art deco lobby. Each element – from astrology to medicine – reflects the brain’s mysteries. Marvel at the Advance of Neurology, painted by Mary Filer in 1954, and dive into the rich tapestry of discoveries that have shaped neurology.Ìý

Biobank & Early Drug Discovery UnitÌý

Enter the world of The Neuro’s Open Biobank, where over 3,000 patients have contributed their biospecimens and clinical information to fuel the next era of neurological research. The goal is to advance treatment development and patient care through precision clinical trials and shared data. This platform allows patients to contribute to advancing our understanding of the diseases affecting them.ÌýÌýÌý

At The Early Drug Discovery Unit researchers are using stem cell technology to create cell lines and brain organoids. Witness how these miniscule 3D human cell cultures are providing the closest available model to patients’ brains and an innovative approach to study neurological disease and accelerate drug discovery.Ìý

Clinical Research UnitÌýÌý

The Clinical Research Unit team conducts over 115 clinical trials across all areas of neurology including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Multiple Sclerosis, and Stroke, bringing hope and breakthroughs to patients worldwide. The CRU is known for its expertise in rare diseases and is home to a first-of-its-kind Phase 1 Unit dedicated to neurological disorders.ÌýÌý
