Thriving in the Face of Doom: Workshop on Coping with Eco-Anxiety
Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the climate change crisis? Are you scared by the future or crushed by the weight of the environmental problems you’ve been learning about? Do you want to move forward but the extent of the issue paralyzes you?
You are not alone!
We are hundreds of students on this campus sharing those feelings and needing to talk about them. That’s why ECOLE and M.E.S.S. are partnering with the McGill Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (MORSL) to give students the opportunity to start a discussion on the eco-anxiety.
In each 1.5 hour session, we will be exploring what eco-anxiety means and collectively explore and develop ways to cope - and even thrive. Come find out how we can cultivate hope and optimism, build resilience, and transform our fears into change and action.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Please contact us for any dietary restrictions.
A statement from ECOLE's website regarding accessibility:
We regret that our space is not wheelchair accessible and has no elevator. There are four steps up to the front door and a heavy door into an entryway with a buzzer system. Once visitors are buzzed in, there is another heavy door to access the main floor. Our main common space (called the Living Room) is on the second floor, up one flight of stairs, and the kitchen and dining room are in the basement, down one flight of stairs. There is another common space (called the Meeting Room) on the main (entry) level. Most of the doors in the building are heavy, including the doors into the washrooms.
