Biography:

Dr. Jodey Nurse is a faculty lecturer at the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada at 香蕉视频. Previously, she was a research assistant professor in the Department of History at the University of Waterloo and a past L.R. Wilson Assistant Professor at the Wilson Institute for Canadian History at McMaster University. Her current research focuses on the history of Canada's supply-managed dairy, egg, and poultry industries.

Nurse has authored many scholarly articles on the topic, and a central feature of her research is an examination of the asymmetrical power relations that exist among stakeholders in agricultural marketing systems and the polarized agricultural policies that have emerged in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Nurse also studies and writes about women in agricultural organizations and rural society more generally. Her first monograph, Cultivating Community: Women and Agricultural Fairs in Ontario, was published by McGill-Queen's University Press in 2022, followed by the publication of her second book, The Farm Products Council of Canada, 1972鈥2022: A History.
