Program Overview

The McGill Mining Engineering Co-op Program is a continuous co-op placement model versus the ranking & matching system used by many other universities. In our program, each student is required to accept the first employment offer that they receive. For this reason, we encourage employers toÌýrecruit and advertise jobs early (two to three months prior to the job start date)Ìýin order to have access to the largest pool of qualified candidates. Once a student receives and accepts an offer, they are no longer eligible to continue the job search process for the upcoming semester.

The program requires our students to complete a minimum of three, 4-month work termsÌýin 4-, 8-, or 12-months of relevant engineering work experience in order to graduate with a B.Eng. Co-op in Mining Engineering. ÌýÌýOur program’s academic curriculum is flexible and students are available for co-op during all three semesters, with the largest cohort available in the summer (i.e. starting May).

Students typically start work work terms in the first week of January, May or September and work for a minimum of 13-16 weeks (4 month work term) or 26-32 weeks (8 month work term).
