Management of Stable Coronary Disease

Dr. Elie AklDr. Elie Akl is currently an interventional Cardiologist at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Health Centre (MUHC) and assistant professor of Medicine at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. He completed two years of interventional training at McMaster University with a focus on intravascular coronary imaging. His most notable project un this field was the first in-human evaluation of a hybrid intracoronary imaging catheter. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology from McMaster University, and is currently the Cardiology division lead of quality and innovation and the RVH.

Approach to Patient with Palpitations

Dr. Jacqueline Joza

Jacqueline Joza is a cardiac electrophysiologist at the MUHC. She specializes in ablation of complex arrhythmia and device therapy, with special interested in inherited arrhythmias. She is a cardiac electrophysiologist and assistant professor of medicine at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Health Centre, Montreal, PQ, Canada She obtained her undergraduate degree from Queen's University and Université Claude Bernarde, Lyon, and her medical degree from the University of Western Ontario. Her internal medicine and cardiology residency training was completed at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. She subsequently completed a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at New York University Langone, specializing in inherited arrhythmia disorders and cardiovascular genetics. In addition to caring for patients with general arrhythmias and inherited arrhythmia disorders (long QT syndrome, catecholaminergic polymorphic VT, Brugada, Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, etc..), Dr. Joza has special interest in epicardial VT ablation, leadless pacemaker implantation, and new techniques in ICD implantation. Current research focus in population evaluation of catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation and familial sick sinus syndrome

Medical Management of Heart Failure

Dr. Nadia GiannettiDr. Giannetti is the Medical Director of the Heart Failure and Heart Transplant program at the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Health Centre in Montreal. She is a Clinical Researcher with an interest in personalized therapy for patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and optimizing clinical outcomes in patients living with heart failure. For the past 10 years, she has been an active member of the Canadian Heart Failure and Heart Transplant Guidelines. She has led multiple multi-centre clinical trials as a local and national principal investigator. She is the Program lead for a large research initiative entitled the Courtois Cardiovascular Signature Program (cvsignature.ca) and the Director of the Courtois Cardiovascular Biorepository.

Pregnancy-Related Cardiovascular Risk Factors

Dr. Natalie DayanDr. Dayan is an Associate Professor of Medicine, physician in General Internal Medicine. Her clinical practice and research program are focused on medical disorders of pregnancy, in particular hypertensive disorders and long-term maternal cardiovascular health. She holds an early career professorship in women's heart and brain health from Heart and Stroke Foundation and Ï㽶ÊÓƵ,

A Case-Based Approach to Left Ventricular Hypertrophy

Dr. Michael ChetritDr. Chetrit is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ and a cardiologist at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Health Centre. He is also the director of McGill Amyloidosis Project, clinical director of the Courtois Cardiac MRI Program and vice-president of the Canadian Society of Cardiac MRI.

Approach to Chest Pain

Dr. George ThanassoulisDr. Thanassoulis is the Director of Preventive and Genomic Cardiology at the MUHC and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. His clinical interests are in cardiovascular prevention, dyslipidemia (specifically lipoprotein[a]) and premature coronary artery disease. He currently runs the MUHC Family Heart Clinic for patients with premature CAD and their families with the goal of optimizing their preventive care. His research interests are in the genetics of aortic valve stenosis where he leads an international consortium investigating the role of genomic variation in this disease. He is also working on developing new approaches to optimize cardiovascular prevention in young individuals. He is co-chair of the Canadian Lipid Guideline Committee.

  2. Review the evaluation and medical management of chronic stable angina using standard antianginal therapies
